The BYD Seal 07 DM-i enters the UAE market as a sleek, high-efficiency plug-in hybrid sedan that bridges the gap between traditional combustion vehicles and fully electric models. Officially launched by Al-Futtaim Electric Mobility, the Seal 7 showcases BYD’s fourth-generation DM-i hybrid platform. It's designed to rival D-segment sedans like the Toyota Camry Hybrid and Honda Accord, but with modern aesthetics and plug-in hybrid capability. Two trims are available: Design (AED 109,900) and Premium (AED 129,900), offering excellent value in the segment.
The Seal 7 DM-i is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine paired with a permanent magnet synchronous motor and a 17.6 kWh Blade battery. Combined, the system delivers 270 horsepower and 325 Nm of torque, enabling it to accelerate from 0–100 km/h in 7.9 seconds. It uses an E-CVT transmission, and despite its size and luxury orientation, it delivers smooth acceleration and quiet performance. The top speed is limited to 180 km/h—ideal for regional road regulations.
Electric Range and Fuel Efficiency
One of the highlights of the Seal 7 is its plug-in hybrid capability. The 17.6 kWh battery allows for a pure electric driving range of 75–100 km—sufficient for most daily commutes in urban UAE. When the battery and fuel tank are fully utilized, the Seal 7 can achieve a combined range of up to 850 km. Fuel consumption stands at around 6.2 L/100 km, making it a highly economical choice in a market where fuel prices are increasingly scrutinized.
The Seal 7 measures 4,980 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, with a 2,900 mm wheelbase, offering a spacious and comfortable cabin. The design blends fastback styling with minimalist elegance—featuring flush door handles, sharp LED lighting, and 19" aerodynamic wheels. Its exterior is aerodynamic, giving it both aesthetic appeal and efficiency, while still feeling like a luxury vehicle.
Inside, the Seal 7 is futuristic and tech-heavy. It features a 15.6″ rotatable infotainment screen, 10.25″ digital driver display, and 12-speaker Dynaudio premium sound system. The infotainment runs on BYD’s DiLink OS with voice control, navigation, and OTA updates. Comfort features include ventilated power front seats, panoramic sunroof, AR head-up display, dual-zone climate control, and wireless phone charging, all wrapped in high-quality upholstery with ambient lighting.
Safety is a key strength of the Seal 7. It comes equipped with Level 2 autonomous features under BYD’s DiPilot system, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, auto emergency braking, blind spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, and a 360° camera system. The car's rigid body structure and battery safety systems also contribute to top-tier crash protection. These features are particularly useful for UAE highway driving and urban congestion.
The BYD Seal 7 DM-i offers two trim options in the UAE: the Design trim at AED 109,900 and the Premium trim at AED 129,900. BYD provides a 6-year/150,000 km warranty on the vehicle and an 8-year/160,000 km warranty on the battery. Al-Futtaim also offers Drive-On ownership plans with monthly installments starting around AED 1,899, including service, insurance, and registration for up to 3 years. This comprehensive package positions the Seal 7 as a strong contender in both the hybrid and luxury sedan segments.
