The Cadillac XT6 is a midsize luxury crossover SUV from the American luxury automaker and is the largest offering under the XT range of monocoque crossovers from the brand. Offered with a seven-seater layout as standard, the Cadillac XT6 is available in three variants – Luxury, Premium Luxury and Sport, all of which are on sale with a total of six colour options – Crystal White Tricoat, Latte Metallic, Stellar Black Metallic, Rosewood Metallic, Opulent Blue Metallic and Argent Silver Metallic.

Interior

The cabin of the Cadillac XT6 is another area where this midsize luxury SUV impresses the people. Cadillac is offering up to eight different types of leather upholsteries across the variants of the XT6, all of which feature top-quality leather finish in single-tone or dual-tone themes. The cabin has an elegant look with a faux wood finish for the middle layer of the dashboard, with premium faux aluminium touches for the steering wheel and inner door handles.

The driver’s cockpit of the Cadillac XT6 looks conventional with a three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, which is heated and power-adjustable, and an instrument console with analog gauges and a TFT MID in between them. The centre console looks wide with a large touchscreen infotainment system placed within the central layer, while the sleek AC vents are positioned at the top of the dashboard’s upper layer.

The lower centre console has a trapezoidal-shaped panel for the tri-zone automatic climate control, with the SUV also having a bunch of other premium comfort and convenience features like heated and ventilated front seats, powered front seats with memory function for the driver’s seat, heated rear seats, panoramic sunroof, 14-speaker BOSE audio system, head-up display and more.

Exterior

Among all the XT branded luxury crossover SUVs from Cadillac, the XT6 has the most SUV-like upright stance. Being the largest of all the XT SUVs from Cadillac, the XT6 has an imposing road presence, which is further bettered by the premium elements all around its profile.

The front profile of the Cadillac XT6 gets the typical trapezoidal grille with tapered edges, which has become the common identity among all the Cadillac products on sale. This grille gets a chrome finish for its surrounds and studded inserts in the Luxury and Premium Luxury variants and an all-black theme in the Sport variant. The upper edges of the grille have sleek trapezoidal all-LED headlamps attached to them, while there are vertical and slanted daytime running LEDs placed within large trapezoidal housings on the sides of the front bumper.

The upright stance of the Cadillac XT6 is further complemented by the options of 20-inch and 21-inch alloy wheels, which are offered with multiple designs and finishes across the Premium Luxury and Sport variants. However, the base-spec Luxury variant comes with 18-inch alloy wheels as standard. There is a smooth curve that flows from the edge of the headlamp to the rear door panel, while the SUV also features roof rails, chrome garnish on the lower door panels, and door-mounted rearview mirrors for added style.

The Cadillac XT6 has a hint of Escalade’s appeal at the back, with the former featuring Escalade-inspired T-themed vertically-placed tail lamps with LED inserts. These tail lamps are joined by a sleek chrome garnished bar running across the width of the boot lid. More chrome can be seen in the exhaust port surrounds on either side of the rear bumper, while the rear windscreen has aerodynamic-shaped curtains on the sides and a roof spoiler at the top.

Ride & Handling

The suspension combination of the Cadillac XT6 – comprising of Macpherson struts with a direct-acting stabilizer bar at the front and five-link independent; coil springs with a stabilizer bar at the rear – is fine-tuned to make the driving experience of the XT6 as involving as possible. The finesse of the suspension setup is accompanied by the Chassis damping control with sport mode and selectable driving modes (Touring, Sport or Off-road preferences).

Engine & Fuel Consumption

The base Luxury variant of the Cadillac XT6 is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 237 bhp of maximum power output. Meanwhile, the 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine in the Premium Luxury and Sport variants produces 345 bhp of maximum power output. A 9-speed automatic transmission is standard across the range, which is offered with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive layout options.
