Ford F-150 Introduction

One of the most iconic brands in the luxury pickup market, the Ford F-150 is a name which has evolved into a respectable brand in the US market. However, the recent iterations of the Ford F-150 have gained global recognition by being offered in many other international markets, with the UAE being one of them. The current iteration of the Ford F-150 is available in the UAE in multiple configurations and variants, all of which have set up benchmarks in various aspects.

Interior

The Ford F-150 looks massive even from the inside, with most of the components and bits of the cabin exhibiting sheer size. Many panels of the cabin of the F-150 mimic the large and block-themed design of the exterior, giving the inner occupants a king-size feel.

The driver’s cockpit of the Ford F-150 looks massive and modern, with the four-spoke steering wheel with squared-theme spokes having a cool-looking 8-inch TFT display for the instrument console behind it. The centre console also looks huge-sized, with a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system taking the centre stage and vertically-aligned AC vents on the sides. The entire centre console has silver surrounds, which divide it into two halves. The lower housing of the centre console gets knobs and buttons for the audio and climate control system.

The Ford F-150 also offers unparalleled luxury for a pickup truck, with this full-sized vehicle offering premium features like powered front seats with heating and ventilation functions, multi-zone automatic climate control, full leather upholstery, 18-speaker B&O audio system with sub-woofer and amplifier, and more.

Exterior

When it comes to sheer road presence, the Ford F-150 has a hugely impressive and authoritative appearance, which looks good both on standstill and in motion. With large dimensions and bold-looking design elements, the Ford F-150 ensures that it looks worth noticing and is unmistakable as a big American truck.

At the front, the Ford F-150 has an aggressive-looking fascia, featuring a massively-sized grille with huge chrome slabs across its width. On either side of this massive grille, the F-150 gets large block-themed headlamps, which offer full-LED illumination. The front bumper also goes in sync with the huge size of the front fascia and comes integrated with compact LED fog lamps. While some variants get this bumper finished in chrome, some do get it in a body-coloured theme.

The Ford F-150 has an authoritative stance even from the side, with the luxury truck getting a lofted and squared stance for the high-placed bonnet. Everything on the Ford F-150 looks huge when viewed from the side – the door panels, windows, rearview mirrors, wheels and off-road spec tyres. The wheel arches of the Ford F-150 have the traditional rounded look, with the truck also getting a very helpful side step below the door panels.

The Ford F-150 impresses from the rear too, with the truck exhibiting its sheer size for the deck lid and vertically-aligned tail lamps on the side edges. The tail lamps have contemporary-looking LED inserts and do extend towards the sides of the deck.

Ride & Handling

Apart from the sheer power from all the powertrain options, the Ford F-150 also gets various driving modes, including Deep Sand, Trail, Mud/Ruts, Sport, Eco, Tow/Haul, Normal and Slippery. All the driving modes offer personalized driving experiences on various terrain options, which makes it a go-anywhere vehicle of all sorts. The tough-as-nails suspension and chassis setups make the Ford F-150 an even more indestructible vehicle.

Engine & Fuel Consumption

The UAE market gets the Ford F-150 with three different powertrain options. The range starts with a 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 engine, which claims 365 bhp of power and 570 Nm of torque. There is a 3.5-litre PowerBoost Hybrid V6 engine, which produces 430 bhp of power and 770 Nm of torque. And then, there is a 5.0-litre naturally-aspirated V8 engine producing 360 bhp of power and 515 Nm of torque. All the powertrain options of the Ford F-150 get a 10-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive system as standard.

Braking & Safety

The Ford F-150 is armed with a slew of safety features, a list of which includes pre-collision assist with Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), a Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert, a Lane-Keeping System, auto high beams, a 360-degree parking camera with dynamic hitch assist, front and rear parking sensors, reverse brake assist, and post-collision braking. It also gets additional features adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and lane centring, evasive steering assist and intersection assist.

Verdict

With tons of comfort, convenience and safety features, sheer power and torque from all the engine options, massive capabilities on and off the road and an unmistakable design, Ford has left no stone unturned with the F-150. Keeping aside the minor issues that come along with the huge and pricey vehicle of its stature, the Ford F-150 deserves the iconic stature it holds.
