The Hyundai Ioniq 5 uses eco-friendly elements like eco-processed leather, material woven from fibres made from recycled used PET plastic bottles, and textiles derived from wool and poly yarns for its artificial upholstery, which makes the cabin feel fresh and unique.
The new-age two-spoke multi-functional steering wheel and the wide cockpit with two 12.3-inch full-TFT screens for the instrument console and a touchscreen infotainment system are the prime reasons behind the futuristic appeal of the interior. With several connectivity features in its arsenal, the infotainment system screen is also a window for the 7-speaker audio system that is further complemented by a subwoofer and amplifier.
Being a new-age electric car, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 also gets dual-zone automatic climate control, a wireless charger, powered, ventilated, and heated front seats, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, a panoramic glass roof, a head-up display, and more.
The overboard design of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 can be a bit too much to the eyes of some people. However, the futuristic design language of the Ioniq 5 makes it a sheer attention magnet.
The robotic-looking fascia of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 includes a wide stretched-out closed grille with headlamps on the corners, which have all-LED lighting and dual U-shaped daytime running LEDs. This sleek and wide-looking triangular garnish just below the closed grille has a silver-coloured wide and muscular-looking diffuser at the bottom, which gets hidden active air flaps for better aerodynamics at higher speeds.
The edgy side profile of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 has angular pillars and sharp character lines on the door panels, while also having a swirl-like effect around the rounded wheel arches, which have distinctive-looking 20-inch alloy wheels featuring a closed aero-optimized pattern beneath them. The retro-themed, slim-looking rectangular LED tail lamps at the back are spread across the width of the boot lid. With an Ioniq 5 badge and a slim LED lighting bar within it, the central light bar enhances the futuristic appeal of the Ioniq 5.
Sitting on Hyundai’s electric global modular platform (E-GMP), the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a born-electric car, which makes its cabin highly spacious with the added practicality of a flat floor. The four-wheel steering and multiple drive modes – Eco, Normal, Sport and Snow – make the Hyundai Ioniq 5 a more versatile vehicle to drive in varying conditions.
For the UAE car market, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is only available with its range-topping dual-motor configuration, which gives it an all-wheel drive setup. Both motors combine to deliver a maximum power output of 305 PS and a maximum torque output of 605 Nm while being paired to a single-speed transmission. The 72.6kWh battery of the Ioniq 5 returns a maximum range of 481 km and takes 6.1 hours for a full charge while supporting up to 350kW DC fast charging, in which it takes just 18 minutes for a 10-80 percent charge.
